1. Purpose

These guidelines establish the official procedure for verifying certificates and professional designations issued by the Chartered Institute of Education and Training (CIET).

They ensure the authenticity, integrity, and validity of all CIET-issued credentials and protect the credibility of certified professionals and the Institute.

Verification applies to:

  • Professional Certifications (e.g., CPE, CPT, CCIS, etc.)
  • Membership Status (Student, Associate, Full Member, Fellow)
  • CPD (Continuous Professional Development) compliance
  • Subscription standing

2. Verification Process

All verifications are conducted manually by the CIET Verification Department.

There is no online verification portal at this time.

Verification Request Procedure

All verification inquiries must be sent to:

Each request should include:

  1. Full name of the certificate holder (as shown on the certificate)
  2. Certificate title (e.g., Certified Professional Educator – CPE)
  3. Certificate number (bottom of the document)
  4. Date of issue (if available)
  5. Name of requesting organization or individual
  6. Purpose of verification (e.g., employment, accreditation, or partnership)

3. Processing and Confirmation

  1. Receipt: CIET acknowledges the verification request via email.
  2. Validation: The certificate and member record are checked against the CIET Certification and Membership Registry.
  3. Issuance of Verification Report: Within 5–7 business days, the requester receives an official verification letter confirming:
    • Certification title and holder name
    • Certification status (Valid, Expired, Suspended, or Revoked)
    • Certification validity period
    • Membership standing (Good Standing or Inactive)

4. Certificate Validity

  • All CIET Professional Certifications are valid for three (3) years from the date of issue.
  • The validity period is clearly printed on the certificate.
  • Certified professionals must apply for renewal before expiry, submitting evidence of:
    • 30 CPD hours per year, and
    • Continuous professional practice

Failure to renew within the stipulated time may result in the certification status being marked as Expired or Inactive in the CIET Registry.

5. Membership Standing

  • All CIET members are required to pay their annual subscription fees to maintain active membership status and good standing.
  • Membership in good standing is a prerequisite for certificate renewal, verification, and CPD recognition.
  • Members who fail to renew their annual subscription within three (3) months of the due date may be listed as Inactive Members until payment is received.

Standing Categories:

Standing Description
Good Standing Member has paid annual subscriptions and met CPD requirements.
Inactive Member has not renewed annual subscription or failed CPD compliance.
Suspended Membership or certification temporarily inactive due to disciplinary review.
Revoked Membership or certification permanently withdrawn for misconduct or forgery.

6. Certificate Security Features

Each official CIET certificate includes the following security elements:

  • Unique Certificate ID Number
  • Official CIET embossed seal
  • Authorized signatures of CIET executives
  • Clearly marked validity period (3 years)

Any document lacking these features should be considered unauthorized or counterfeit and reported to the CIET Secretariat.

7. Reporting Forged or Fraudulent Certificates

All suspected falsifications or unauthorized reproductions must be reported immediately to:

  • A copy of the questionable certificate (scanned or photographed)
  • Name of the certificate holder (if known)
  • Relevant details (institution, date, etc.)

All reports are treated as strictly confidential, and the CIET Disciplinary and Verification Committees shall investigate accordingly.

8. Confidentiality and Data Protection

  • All verification records are handled in compliance with international data protection laws.
  • Information is shared only with the verified requester or legally authorized parties.
  • CIET does not release personal or professional information without consent.

9. Enforcement and Review

  • These guidelines are enforced by the CIET Verification and Certification Committee.
  • CIET reserves the right to modify or update these guidelines as necessary to align with evolving professional and legal standards.
  • The guidelines shall be reviewed every two (2) years or as deemed appropriate by the CIET Council.
